2015 PSLE English Continuous Writing Composition -Being considerate

“Could everyone please be more considerate?” our form teacher said sternly during assembly. Her words lingered in my mind throughout the day, although I did not realise how important they would soon become.

During recess, the canteen was crowded and noisy. After finishing my meal, I was about to leave my tray on the table when I noticed an elderly cleaner struggling to clear piles of dirty dishes. Sweat trickled down his forehead as he pushed the heavy trolley slowly across the slippery floor.

Guilt crept into my heart. Quickly, I carried my tray to the tray return station and even helped clear some empty bowls left behind by other students. The cleaner smiled warmly and thanked me softly. A sense of pride filled my chest.

Later that evening, I was relaxing at home when my younger brother turned the television volume to the maximum. The deafening noise echoed through the house. I remembered that my father was resting after a tiring day at work, so I politely asked my brother to lower the volume. Although he frowned at first, he eventually agreed.

The next day, while riding the MRT, I noticed an old lady gripping the pole tightly with trembling hands. Without hesitation, I stood up and offered her my reserved seat. Her grateful smile brightened my day.

From these experiences, I learnt that consideration is not shown through grand actions but through small acts of kindness. A little thoughtfulness can make the world a warmer and happier place.
