A Careless Housewife

It was almost noon. The weather was sunny. A housewife, Mrs.Pang, was on her way to her husband’s place of work, a shipyard. Her husband worked as a welder. She was carrying a tiffin carrier which was filled with food. It was meant for her hubby’s lunch as he loved homemade food. His lunch consisted of vegetables with pork, fried eggs, plain rice and chicken soup. She was walking hurriedly as she was afraid that she might be late and keep her hubby waiting for his meal. She loved him dearly and hated to see his pangs of hunger.

As she was walking on the pavement, she did not keep an eye on what was beyond her. As she was rounding a corner, she bumped into an elderly man, Uncle Lim. Both fell heavily on the damp ground.She shouted out in pain, “Ouch! My leg’s painful! My body’s aching!” Uncle Lim was groaning in great pain. He then screamed at her, “Why are you so reckless? You nearly frightened me to death!” Her tiftin carrier was flung a distance away. It was badly damaged and its contents spilled all over the scene.

When she finally got up her feet, she, suddenly remembered her tiffin carrier. She searched frantically for it. When she spotted it with its contents spilled all over the place, she burst into tears.

Her carelessness had caused her hubby a meal.
