One early evening, a little boy, Andrew, and his parents visited a Fair. Vendors were plying their wares at the well-lit stalls. All of a sudden, there was a commotion at a game stall. Andrew and his parents were apprehensive. They saw a customer yelling at a stall assistant, Peter. He complained that he was being cheated in a game. He lost quite a lot of money. The game had been fixed. The owner of the game stall was sure to win. No other people could. The disgruntled customer then flew into a rage. He seized hold of Peter and rained blows on him. Peter looked a pitiful sight. His face was swollen and his mouth was bleeding. Soon he passed out. The customer then proceeded to smash up the stall. He flung a chair at the stall, wrecking it. Some visitors began to flee to a safe distance. They wanted to get out of harm’s way.

At this juncture, the owner, Mr. Lim, came to the scene. He was furious to see his stall badly damaged. He clenched his fists in fury and went to look for his assistant. On seeing Peter lying unconsciously on the ground, he spotted the disgruntled customer still complaining about the alleged swindle. Mr. Lim sprang at him, and aimed a wild blow at his face. The enraged customer was taken aback and fought back with his bare fists.

Not long, a plainclothes detective, Paul, stepped out and intervened. Both of them were arrested and brought to the police station. The injured assistant, Peter, was rushed to hospital. Everyone was relieved to see the brawl come to an end.

Meanwhile, Andrew and his parents continued visiting stalls selling furniture, clothes and shoes. Business was brisk as the night wore on.
