A Fishing Incident

Samad liked to fish. One day, he borrowed his uncle’s small boat and invited two of his friends to go fishing with him. Earlier,Samad had learnt that rain was expected in the later-part of the day. However, Samad thought it was merely a prediction which might not be true.

So, with rods and baits in hand, the three boys rowed out to sea. Finding a calm spot, they threw in their lines and waited.

Soon, the boat started to rock. The breeze became stronger The boys could see dark clouds gathering in the horizon. Greatly dismayed, they started to row towards shore. Quickly, the entire sky above them was overcast. Fat drops of rain pelted upon the sea and on the three boys.

Seconds before they could reach the safety of the shore, their boat overturned. A giant wave had hit it hard. Samad could not swim. He struggled in the water; shouting for help. His two friends came to his rescue and pulled him to shore. They had to leave the boat which was floating about close to the shore.

It was a disastrous outing. The boys were lucky nothing more terrible had befallen any one of them.
