A Hair Cut

Going to the barber has become quite a routine for me. I visit the barber whenever my hair starts to touch my shirt collar. At times, my hair grows very quickly and at times, quite slowly.This depends, I found, on the amount of hair oil I apply to my scalp.

Today, I need to visit Mr Berry, the neighbourhood barber.Mr Berry is fifty-years old. His barber shop is amongst a row of shophouses along Mayfair Street. I walk to his shop from my house which is at the end of Mayfair Street.

Mr Berry is always pleased to see me. He treats me like an old friend though I am only ten years old. He always offers me a lollipop to lick while he snips quickly at my hair. Today, the lollipop is lemon-flavoured. I sit in a high chair and the barber places a white towel around my shoulders. He sprays my hair with water and then he begins to snip. Sometimes, he uses a blade. This scares me and I dare not move lest he cuts into my skin. Finally, he is done. He combs my hair and removes the towel from my shoulders. I have finished the lollipop.

Mr Berry does a good job always. This must be why he has been a barber all his life.
