A House That Was Invaded By Millipedes

A child, Tom, was playing with millipedes one fine morning. He was in his pre-war shophouse. His mother saw it and cried out in alarm, ”Oh, no, don’t touch them.” She grabbed her son, killed these insects instantly and left the scene abruptly. She was aghast at the sight of these creepy insects. Her child was innocent and too young to know anything about them. He was curious and plucked up enough courage to touch and feel them, as part of a first hand experience with them. Minutes later, mother and child entered the bedroom where everything was in a mess. The clean laundry needed to be placed neatly in the cupboard; she had to make the bed; she had to clear a heap of rubbish in the midst of the room. These household chores were time-consuming and tedious to her.

She took out some toys and kept her child fully occupied. Moments later, he was playing with them happily. With her inquisitive son close to her, she went about her household chores at ease. When she went to make the bed, she let out a piercing scream. There were millipedes all over the bed. She scurried to a safe distance and away from these creepy insects. She plucked up enough courage and grabbed a tin of insecticide from the kitchen. She sprayed insecticide over the horrifying milipedes relentlessly and courageously. Soon they dropped dead. The insecticide proved an effective deterrent. The moment she began to stack the clean laundry in the cupboard, there were hundreds and hundreds of millipedes crawling all over the place. The terrifying sight sent her and her child beating a hasty retreat.
