A Littie Girl Crying For Her Pet Kitten

One early morning, it was drizzling. The weather was cool. The sky was overcast. A little girl, Jane, was crying. She could not find her pert kitten, Pussy. It always stayed close to her. That morning, it was gone She combed her room for it. Perhaps it was too playful and hid behind the dressing-table. Such a possibility was most probable. She called out, ”Pussy, come out! I miss you very much!” However, there was silence, total silence. She looked behind the dressing-table and there was no sign of Pussy. She burst into tears as she continued her search for her beloved pet. She searched far and wide and kept her fingers crossed She looked forward to cuddle her pet and hear its familiar sound ‘meow For a moment, she recollected her former happy times with Pussy. With tears streaming down her face, she ventured into the backyard where old tyres were kept and nails, littered everywhere.

At this juncture, she heard a familiar sound ‘meow’. She looked up and spotted Pussy perch precariously on the roof. She held her breath and dared not entice it to come down. It would fall to its death. She wondered what to do next to save her pet. Suddenly mosquitoes buzzed around her, causing her to dash into her home. She feared mosquito bites. The mosquitoes bred easily in stagnant water which had accumulated in the tyres. Just then, Jane’s mother was leaving the kitchen when Jane ran past her. Mother was startled and asked her, ”What is the matter? Is anything wrong? You look so pale.” Jane was panting and later led mother to the backyard.

On seeing Pussy’s plight, mother took a ladder and climbed up to the roof. Pussy was brought down to safety. Jane jumped for joy.
