One Saturday evening, a man sprinted out of a dark building, sending a women shopper, Mrs. Ling, huddling in fear. He was masked and carrying a cloth bag of valuables. He brandished a knife in his right hand. A loud scream was heard. The scene was dimly-lit. Mrs. Ling saw something on the ground. She touched it. It was watery. She lit a match. It was blood. She was frightened out of her wits. She raised the alarm, ”Help! There is blood here! Call the police!” However, the scene was deserted and dim. Fearing that someone must have been grievously wounded, she plucked up enough courage to venture into the dark building. She followed a trail of blood to the second floor, much to her apprehension. She was perspiring profusely. She inched cautiously along the dark corridor.
At this juncture, she sensed something amiss. There was an eerie silence as she passed a room. Old furniture was discarded and strewn outside the room. She groped her way to the other end of the corridor. She nearly tripped over a broken chair. All of a sudden, she spotted a figure sprawling face downwards on the floor. It gave her the shivers. She froze and was speechless. After a moment, she regained her composure. She acted fast. She lit a match and saw a man groaning in pain. He had two deep stab wounds on his body. His clothes were bloodstained and soiled. He was bleeding profusely. She tore her scar and bandaged his wounds. She then blew a police whistle, sending two policemen on patrol duty rushing to the scene. The injured victim was rushed to hospital immediately.
Sad to say, the victim succumbed to his wounds.
