"Who has an idea for our environmental project?" asked Mrs Lim.

The classroom fell silent until I raised my hand. "Why don't we build recycling bins using discarded materials and place them around the school?" I suggested.

Mrs Lim smiled. "That's an excellent idea!"

Our aim was to encourage pupils to recycle and reduce littering in school. Everyone was excited and quickly got to work. We divided ourselves into groups. Some pupils designed posters while others collected old paint cans, cardboard boxes and unused wood. My group was responsible for building the recycling bins.

However, the project was not as easy as we had expected. Some of the materials were damaged, and one of the bins collapsed while we were testing it. Instead of giving up, we brainstormed solutions. Using stronger pieces of wood and a few simple tools, we rebuilt the bin and reinforced its base.

After several days of hard work, the project was finally completed. We painted the bins in bright colours and labelled them clearly for paper, plastic and metal waste. On the day of the presentation, I confidently explained the purpose of the project to the school.

To our delight, the principal praised our effort and agreed to place the bins around the campus. Within weeks, the amount of litter in the school decreased noticeably.

I felt proud of what we had achieved. The project taught me that teamwork, creativity and perseverance can help us make a positive difference to our environment.
