A Rainy Day

Thunder rumbled overhead and lightning flashed about in the sky. I stood patiently waiting for the bus. Then the rain started to fall. It was a heavy downpour with strong winds. The small crowd huddled underneath the small shelter. We still got wet.

As I stood shivering a little, I noticed puddles forming quickly about the shelter. A stray dog, its dirty fur stuck to its skinny body, limped towards the shelter. It looked sick. The crowd made a small space for the dog.

The bus was late. The sky had grown very dark then and the rain was heavier too.

I began to worry. A lady in high heels tripped off a bus. She fell into a puddle of water. A young man rushed forward to help her up. I felt sorry for the lady. Finally, the bus arrived. I boarded it and was soon on my way home.
