A Shocking Find

One Saturday morning, the sky was gloomy. A little boy, Frankie,was in his bedroom. He was enjoying some pop music from the radio After some time, he felt bored. He left his room and wanted to enjoy some fresh air by the balcony. Halfway, he spotted a large black butterfly on the wall. He was astonished to see it. He thought his elder sister, Peggy, had purchased a science specimen as part of her pre-university project. He touched it gently.

Frankie had the biggest shock of his life when it sprang into life. It sent him screaming in horror. Moments later, he was huddling with fear as the insect fluttered round the room. Soon he went in search of a stick as he intended to beat it to death. However, he could still recall his teacher’s advice, “Do not harm harmless insects. They bring joy and life to our world”. Feeling downhearted, he opened all the windows and hoped that it would fly away. It was resting on the ceiling. After fifteen minutes, it was still on the same spot. He was full of indignation and stormed out of the hall in disgust.

When he stepped into the hall later, it was nowhere to be seen. He could not believe his eyes. He scanned the hall but there was no sign of it. It had apparently flown away. He jumped for joy. He heaved a sigh of relief.

That night, he had a nightmare and was seen tossing in bed!
