A Storm

One fine sunny afternoon, John and I went fishing in a small sampan. We had to paddle out quite far away into the open sea because we wanted to catch large fishes.

After paddling for sometime, we finally stopped to fish,After a few minutes, we hooked a large fish. We were so happy with our catch that we did not notice large black clouds gathering in the sky.

Suddenly, lightning flashed and thunder cracked. Then it started to rain. Although it lasted for only fifteen minutes, it made the sea stormy. In our haste to get back to shore, our sampan capsized.

Although there was no more rain, the sea was still as choppy as ever. I managed to make a burning torch which I held high above my head, hoping to attract any passing ships.We were desperate to get help and our spirits were low. But suddenly, we saw a ship! I waved the burning torch to and fro in an attempt to attract the ship.

At last, the ship turned round and came to pick us up.After we were on board, the captain gave us food and clothing and took us back to shore. We thanked the captain for being so kind when we reached our homes.

After this frightening experience, we never went out into the open sea again. Although we lost our fishing rods, we were thankful that we were saved.
