A Tragic Sight

I was alone at home that night. My parents had gone to a party and would be coming back late. As I was reading a storybook, I heard a loud scream, piercing through the tranquil street below. I peeped out of my window and caught sight of two burly men slashing Mrs Wu, my neighbour, with sharp daggers.

They pried open her handbag which Mrs Wu was bringing along and took off with the valuables and cash. Mrs Wu was lyin, in a pool of blood, groaning in pain. I was terrified by the tragic sight. I immediately informed the police.

After what seemed to me like hours, the police arrived,followed by an ambulance. Mrs Wu died due to the excessive loss of blood. The policemen took photographs of everything at the scene. Mrs Wu was then taken to a mortuary by a police van.

I felt very sorry for Mrs Wu who had met with such a unexpected death, leaving behind her husband and three young children. I was undecided whether I should be a witness to the tragic incident. I did not tell my parents what I had seen when they returned home.

After a sleepless night, I decided to tell my parents how Mrs Wu was stabbed to death the previous night. The next day, there was a report in the newspaper and the police were appealing to eye-witnesses to contact them.

My parents accompanied me to the nearest police station.After disclosing to the police all that I had seen, I felt much better.I left the police station with a light heart.
