A Trek Through A Dense Jungle

One warm morning, two hikers, Anthony and Joseph, were trekking through a dense jungle. They carried heavy haversacks with them. Bottles of water, dried foodstuffs like biscuits and potato chips, first aid kit, fruits, bread, canned food, tomato sauce, sugar, salt and cheese lined their haversacks. They were armed to the teeth. They carried parangs and revolvers to protect themselves and keep wild animals and scantily-clad natives at bay. They hacked their way through dense undergrowth, sending small animals like mousedeer and squirrels scampering away in fright. There was a flurry of wings and a bird flew out. As they trampled over the undergrowth, Joseph was on the lookout for poisonous snakes slithering on the ground. Their bites were often fatal. Both of them dreaded them and would not hesitate to use their revolvers to kill these deadly reptiles.
At this juncture, a green snake reared its head and hissed at them angrily. The two adventurers froze and their faces turned pale; they were paralysed with fear. Their lives were at stake. Joseph acted fast. Pushing Anthony farther away from him, he drew out his gun and fired six shots in rapid succession. The bullets found their target. The snake dropped dead. Then they moved on into the interior of the dense jungle. Halfway, they sighted some man-eating tigers after having followed a trail of their footprints. Using binoculars, they spotted some tigers devouring a ful-grown deer. It was a grisly sight. The two hikers dared not interrupt the tigers’ meal. They stayed out of sight.
Soon they reached a stream where cool, crystal-clear water flowed freely. They washed themselves and quenched their thirst heartily. Their trek was fraught with danger!
