“Come on! Let’s skip our revision and play football instead,” my friend Ben said excitedly.
The PSLE preliminary examinations were only a week away, and my mother had reminded me to revise my Science notes. However, the sunny weather and my friends’ enthusiasm tempted me. Without thinking carefully, I made the wrong decision and joined them.
For the next few days, I continued to spend my afternoons playing instead of studying. Whenever I looked at my untouched Science textbook, I told myself that I could revise later.
Soon, the examination arrived. As I flipped through the Science paper, my heart sank. Many questions were from topics that I had not revised. Beads of sweat formed on my forehead as I struggled to answer them.
A week later, I received my results. To my horror, I had failed the paper. My poor grade caused my overall results to drop significantly. I felt ashamed and disappointed in myself.
To make matters worse, my parents were upset because they had trusted me to manage my time wisely. That evening, I apologised sincerely for ignoring their advice.
A few months later, my younger brother suffered a minor accident and was admitted to the hospital. While visiting him, I realised how important it was to make responsible decisions. Just as one careless choice could lead to injury, my wrong decision had affected my studies and my family.
Since then, I have learnt to think carefully before making decisions. One wrong choice can have lasting consequences, but admitting my mistake helped me become a more responsible person.

How to Plan and Write This Composition
1. Understand the Topic
The focus is on:
What was the wrong decision?
How did it affect the characters?
What lesson was learnt?
A strong PSLE story should show:
Decision → Consequences → Regret → Apology → Lesson Learnt
2. Use the Pictures
Picture 1 (Science Textbook)
Possible ideas:
Not studying for an examination.
Ignoring homework.
Choosing fun over responsibility.
Picture 2 (Hospital)
Possible consequences:
Someone gets injured because of a poor decision.
Family members become worried.
The character reflects on responsibility.
Picture 3 (Sorry Card)
Shows:
Apology.
Taking responsibility.
Learning from mistakes.
3. Planning Framework
Paragraph - Content
Introduction - Friend invites you to play instead of study.
Rising Action - Continue neglecting revision.
Climax - Fail Science examination.
Falling Action - Feel regret and apologise.
Resolution - Learn a valuable lesson about making wise decisions.
4. A1 Writing Techniques
Use Strong Feelings
Instead of: I was worried.
Write: My heart pounded wildly as panic gripped me.
Use Vivid Vocabulary
tempted
irresponsible
devastated
ashamed
regretful
consequences
responsible
Include Reflection
Examiners reward mature thinking.
Example: I realised that every decision carries consequences, and a moment of carelessness can lead to lasting regret.
5. Model A1 Formula for “Wrong Decision”
Temptation → Wrong Choice → Consequences → Apology → Lesson Learnt
This structure creates a clear storyline, demonstrates character growth, and is highly effective for scoring an A1 in PSLE Continuous Writing.
