PSLE CONTINOUS WRITING COMPOSITIONS

6/15/20262 min read

I had always dreamed of travelling overseas, but my family could not afford expensive holidays. Therefore, when my school announced an international quiz competition in Japan, I saw it as a golden opportunity.

The competition required participants to answer challenging questions on Science and Mathematics. Determined to seize the chance, I spent weeks preparing. Instead of playing games on my mobile phone, I used educational apps to revise and practise quiz questions. Whenever I completed a set of questions, I dropped a few coins into my piggy bank as a reward. Slowly but surely, both my knowledge and savings grew.

The day of the selection test finally arrived. My heart pounded as I entered the hall. I took a deep breath and recalled all the hours of hard work I had put in. When the results were released a week later, I could hardly believe my eyes. My name was at the top of the list!

A month later, I boarded an aeroplane for the first time in my life. As the aircraft soared into the sky, excitement surged through me. In Japan, I met students from different countries, learnt new things and gained valuable experiences. My team even won a silver medal.

Looking out of the airplane window on the journey home, I smiled with satisfaction. I had used the opportunity wisely and discovered that success comes to those who prepare themselves when opportunities arise.
