An Autobiography Of A Mobile Phone

I am a mobile phone. In Singapore, most people call me a handphone. In America, I am known as a cellular phone. L was made in a factory in Finland. My brand name is Nokia.My outer body is usually made of different types of plastic,while the inner parts of my body consists of electronic components and computer programmes. These are usually made of metal and wires.

I am one of the latest models of mobile phones, so I am quite small in size. In fact, I looked almost like a toy. I am the size of a credit card but I am slightly thicker. I am pink in colour, so I suppose only ladies would buy me. I do not have an antenna sticking out of my head, like some of my older cousins. I am also quite slim. In fact, I am purposely made slim so that I could be slipped into any pocket.

After we were made, the other mobile phones and I were packed carefully into boxes lined with styrofoam. This is to ensure we would not be damaged while we were being exported overseas. It was very dark in the box and after a long journey by ship, we soon reached a mobile phone shop in Singapore. We were unpacked and put on display on the glass shelves.

It was quite fun to be put on display. Many people came to look at us admiringly. Most of them did not buy us however, because we cost a lot. Many young girls exclaimed over me because they liked my colour and they found my small and compact size very cute. Unfortunately, none of them became my owner because I was too expensive.

One day, a very rich-looking lady bought me. She was not my future owner, as I discovered later. She was buying me as a gift to her daughter. My owner was very careless and she was a spoilt girl. She never took good care of me because she was always dropping me and throwing me about.As she was so careless, she soon lost me when she left me behind in a public toilet.

A young man picked me up. He realised that I was damaged. He brought me to the repair shop. I was repaired and given a new plastic body. I am no longer pink in colour.I am silver in colour now. My present owner is very good because he takes very good care of me. I hope I can continue to serve him for a long time and he will not grow tired of me.
