An Escaped Panther

The news was all over the country. A black panther had escaped from the local zoo. It had gone into hiding in a huge secondary forest.

My primary school was located next to that very jungle. During that time, I had to walk to school. I had to use the road that ran through the secondary jungle. It was a frightening period for me and my three brothers. All four of us carried crooked tree branches to fend off any attack by the escaped cat.

Days went by. However the panther still could not be found. The jungle had been thoroughly combed by the police and the zoo officials. No panther was found.

One day, Harry, my classmate, heard some unusual sounds coming from a covered drain. He informed the principal. It was the panther. It had been on the loose for twenty-one days. It was dying. The panther was quickly brought back to the zoo and there it remains until today.
