An Eye-witness

One day, as I was walking home from school, I witnessed an armed robbery.

At first, the road I was walking on appeared quite deserted although a row of shophouses stood on one side of it. Suddenly,I heard a sharp cry. I turned around to look and saw a gleaming black Mercedes outside a pawnshop. Someone was in the driver’s seat. Cries could be heard corning from inside the pawnshop.Like a few other pedestrians, I took cover quickly I hid behind an old blue van. It stood just about three parked cars away from the Mercedes.

Then, peering out, I saw a bearded man rush out of the pawnshop. He had a pistol in hand. He looked about him wildly.In his haste, his dark glasses fell off. I saw his face quite clearly.He had bushy eyebrows and something was wrong with his right eye. He did not have one. He disappeared into the Mercedes which took off like lightning.

After a while, the police arrived. The pawnshop had been robbed at gun point. I stood amongst the small crowd of people that had gathered outside the pawnshop. A police officer with a notepad in hand appeared asking for eye-witnesses. At first I was a little frightened but when I thought about the danger the man would be to society, I stepped forward. I described all that I had seen to the officer.

It turned out that the crook was on the most wanted list. He was soon arrested as I learnt from the newspapers a few days after the incident.
