An Inquisitive Boy Who Was Restless

A mother, Mrs. Sim, and her inquisitive son, Johnny, went to a shopping centre. Feeling hungry and thirsty, they entered a fast-food restaurant. While Mrs. Sim was eating, a long-lost friend, Jenny, ran into her. They chatted, much to the boredom of Mrs. Sim’s son. Johnny was restless and longed to visit the shops offering a wide range of electrical appliances. He slipped out of the restaurant when his mother and her companion were engrossed in their conversation. Soon he dashed to a stall selling electric kettles, ovens, toasters, fridges and vacuum cleaners.He was curious and opened the fridges at will, irking the salesman in the premises. The salesman was relieved when he left the shop abruptly. At another shop, he looked at the watches and pens on display in a showcase. He asked to be shown the wide range of watches for boys of his age. A salesgirl served him promptly. He tried many watches on his wrist, asked for the respective prices, and then ran to another shop. The salesgirl was fuming with rage. The proprietor of a shoe shop, Mr. Pang, welcomed him into the well-lit premises. He tried on many pairs of shoes,giving an impression that he was a potential customer. After some time, he glanced at his watch and ran out of the premises, leaving the proprietor in bewilderment.

Just at this time, Mrs. Sim was startled when Johnny was nowhere to be seen. She became worried. She thought that he was easing himself in a toilet. She rushed there but to her dismay, he was not there. Fearing that a misfortune might befall on him, she dashed to the main road, screaming for her son. Johnny appeared and held his mother’s hand tightly. Mrs. Sim sighed with relief when she found her son.
