PSLE CONTINOUS WRITING COMPOSITIONS
6/15/20263 min read

It was an ordinary Wednesday afternoon when the doorbell rang. I opened the door and found a delivery man holding a medium-sized box. Across the front were the words: "HANDLE WITH CARE."
"Is this for me?" I asked in surprise.
The delivery man checked the label and nodded. Curious, I carried the box inside. I could not remember ordering anything. My parents were equally puzzled.
With trembling hands, I carefully opened the package. Inside was an envelope addressed to me. My heart raced as I unfolded the letter. It was from the organisers of a national writing competition that I had entered months ago.
The letter congratulated me on winning second prize. At first, I thought I was dreaming. I had completely forgotten about the competition because so much time had passed. Tucked inside the envelope were two entry tickets to an award ceremony and a voucher for a bookstore.
"Congratulations!" my parents exclaimed as they hugged me.
A few weeks later, I attended the ceremony with my mother. When my name was announced, I walked onto the stage proudly to receive my award. The applause from the audience filled me with joy and confidence.
The delivery had been unexpected because I never imagined that I would win a national competition. More importantly, it taught me that hard work and perseverance often bring rewards when we least expect them.
