An Unforgettable Incident

Childhood is a very important period in our life though we may not be able to remember most of the incidents that had occurred.

One incident in my childhood is still clearly printed in my mind. I was then ten years old and was transferred to another school near my new house. Since I was a new pupil, most of the children in my class did not accept me as one of them at once.A few of them did not even like to talk to me. They treated me as an outsider. I felt very lonely and lost especially whenever I came across some problems and difficulties, no one at all would come forward to offer his or her help. Instead, they always made me tobe the target of their jokes.

I hated them and decided to do whatever I liked without telling anyone around, including my dear parents as they were too busy to listen to me. Soon, I got into a habit of visiting a nearby orchard.

Once, I got into an orchard, I climbed up a huge mango tree. Incidentally, the owner saw me and put a toy dog at the foot of the tree deliberately. After filling my bag with a few mangoes, I thought of getting down. It was then that my eyes fell on a ferocious dog. My blood ran cold. I waited impatiently for the dog to go, but it remained unmoved. Finally, I decided to jump down to face the consequences of my theft.

To my surprise, I found that the ‘dog’ was just a stuffed toy. I began laughing at myself. However, the owner of the orchard appeared and pounced on me. I was caught. Fortunately, he was a kind man. Upon my plea for forgiveness, he let me go with just a few words of kind advice. “Can I easily forget this incident?” I wonder.
