“Crash!”
The sound of breaking glass echoed through the living room. I froze. My favourite vase lay shattered on the floor. My father stood beside it, looking disappointed.
“What happened?” he asked sternly.
With my head hanging low, I admitted that I had been playing football indoors despite being told not to. I expected him to scold me harshly, but instead, he calmly explained why my actions were wrong and asked me to help clean up the mess. Feeling ashamed, I promised to be more careful.
A few days later, I realised that my beloved teddy bear was missing. I searched every corner of the house but could not find it. My eyes filled with tears. That teddy bear had been a birthday gift from my late grandmother.
Seeing how upset I was, my father spent his entire weekend helping me search for it. We checked the park, the supermarket and even the school’s Lost and Found box. Although he was busy, he never complained.
Finally, we found the teddy bear at the community centre. Someone had handed it in after finding it on a bench. I hugged the teddy tightly and felt a wave of relief wash over me.
On the way home, I thanked my father sincerely. I realised that the greatest gift he had given me was not the teddy bear but his time, patience and love. From that day on, I became more appreciative of the people who cared for me and the sacrifices they made for my happiness.
