Blackie, Where are You?

“I really miss Blackie, I wonder where it has gone,” my younger sister, Vivian said sadly. “Maybe it would come back later. I think it would find its way back here!” I comforted her.”Susan, Vivian! Dinner time!” my mother urged us from the kitchen. My sister and I trudged lazily to the table. “I’ve lost my appetite.........” Vivian said in low spirit, and then she went back to her room.” Ï was losing my appetite too. I could not say that I was feeling all right but I still managed to finish my meal. Blackie was our first pet. We had it when we were four. We used to play with it together, bathed it and shared all the special moments with it. But, it was missing all of a sudden.

Strangely, at that moment, we heard someone knocking on the door. Vivian dashed out to answer it. The moment she opened the door, we saw a young man. “This dog damaged all my potted plants! It made a mess!”He complained as he picked up Blackie roughly from the ground. “Blackie!” We almost cried in unison. “Very sorry! We’ll compensate you or do you want us to help in clearing your place?” However, the young man shook his head and walked off hastily. We could not accept the fact that Blackie was back. Vivian picked up Blackie from the floor. It was so excited just now that it ran all around the house, stamping its dirty paw prints on the floor. We cleaned Blackie and combed its untidy fur. “You look great, Blackie!” Vivian cried joyfully, unable to contain her happiness of having Blackie back. “You rascal! Can’t you stop getting into trouble?”I asked Blackie as I patted it gently.

Vivian and I mopped the floor as promised, although we usualiy hated to do household chores. Suddenly, we heard a loud crash coming from the kitchen. Mum glared at me angrily. Grinned back in reply. Vivian gasped in shock,”Not again! but don’t worry Mum, we’re going to clear up the mess now!”

“Mischievous little dog!” Mum exclaimed.
