A small-time trader, George, was crossing the desert in a camel, He wanted to head for a mining town which was inhabited by 9000 inhabitants. Accompanying him was four other camels loaded with food, fruits, bread, kitchen utensils and leather bags. It was to be a day’s overland journey for George. As he set off, he was in high spirits. The morning was bright. No sand dunes were in sight; neither was there any sandstorm prevailing. George was a familiar figure in the area. Weather beaten and robust, he traded his merchandise for cash. He made a huge profit after each trip.
Halfway, he stopped for a rest. He set up a tent to seek refuge from the blazing sun. He ate some snacks and drank water to quench his thirst. Then he became drowsy and took a nap. Half an hour later, he got up and washed his face. He packed up the tent and resumed his overland trip. All of a sudden, a sandstorm was brewing in the distance. He took fright and gathered all his animals. He calmed them and tried to lead them out of harm’s way. He was fortunate and soon took another route to his destination. At another place one of his camels fell into a swamp of quicksand. He was alarmed and tried to save the animal and its load. However, it was in vain. Both the camel and merchandise were lost.
Despite the mishap, he continued his trip. When he reached his destination, he was jubilant. His goods were sold to eager customers soon after.
