I stared at the mountain of homework on my desk and let out a deep sigh. It was the start of the June holidays, and I had planned to finish all my assignments early. However, the amount of work seemed overwhelming.
Just then, my mother called me into the living room. “We need to move the old armchair upstairs before your grandparents arrive tomorrow,” she said.
The armchair was huge and heavy. My father and I tried lifting it, but it barely moved. Sweat trickled down my forehead as we struggled to carry it through the narrow staircase. Halfway up, my arms felt as if they were made of jelly.
“I can’t do this anymore,” I groaned.
“Don’t give up. Let’s take it one step at a time,” my father encouraged.
After resting for a few minutes, we tried again. This time, we communicated carefully and moved slowly. Step by step, we finally managed to carry the armchair upstairs.
Although the task was accomplished, I was exhausted. As I sank onto the sofa, I began thinking about my unfinished homework. My father’s words echoed in my mind. Instead of worrying about everything at once, I divided my homework into smaller tasks and completed them one by one.
By the end of the holidays, all my assignments were finished. I felt proud of myself.
That difficult task taught me an important lesson: no challenge is too great if it is approached patiently and with determination. Success often comes from taking one small step at a time.
