Advantages And Disadvantages Of Higher Education

By higher education, it is taken to mean anything from university level and beyond. This is because we realise that it is essential education for everyone to be educated up to at least GCE ‘A’ Level. In order to get a decent job or as a start point in a trade, GCE ‘A’ Level is important.

As is traditionally believed, higher education develops one’s mind. It has generally been found that people who have attained higher education are more mature and more able to think deeply about the problems that confront us in life. Another advantage is that with a higher education, one is able to get a better job, with a better salary and enjoy a better life. Generally, also, a higher educated person earns more respect from society.

The disadvantages of higher advantage are only a few. One of them is the tendency for some people with higher education to be removed from the ground. Often we hear of highly educated managers who are not at all aware of the problems of their workers. Also, their ability to think deeply may lead them to expect everyone to think as deeply as they do. When they see that this is not necessarily true, they may have difficulty relating. Another disadvantage is that some people study to such a high level, that they find it difficult to find employment in Singapore. This may make it necessary for them to migrate. A related issue is the tendency for some people who have entered into higher study to be so fascinated that they do not want to stop. They keep going higher and higher and start to work only when they are older.

By and large, the advantages of higher edlucation far outweigh the advantages. The fact that higher education leads one to lead a richer life is alone a good enough reason to pursue it.
