PSLE CONTINOUS WRITING COMPOSITIONS

I had always dreamed of owning a bicycle, but my family could not afford one. Whenever I saw my friends cycling around the neighbourhood, I could only watch from a distance. Although I felt disappointed, I never complained because I knew my parents were working hard to support our family.

One Saturday afternoon, I was helping to arrange books at the community library when the librarian, Mrs Tan, called me over. She smiled and handed me an envelope. Inside was a letter informing me that I had been selected for a community scholarship because of my dedication and willingness to volunteer.

I could hardly believe my eyes. Along with the scholarship came a small cash award. Overjoyed, I rushed home to share the news with my parents. They were extremely proud of me.

A week later, my father brought me to a bicycle shop. Using part of the scholarship money and some savings, I finally bought my very first bicycle. As the shopkeeper handed me the keys, excitement surged through me. I rode around the park, feeling as free as a bird soaring through the sky.

That evening, my family gathered around the dinner table to celebrate. Looking at my smiling parents, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. I was thankful not only for the scholarship and the bicycle but also for the love and support of my family and the kindness of those who believed in me.

That experience taught me that hard work, perseverance and gratitude can open doors to wonderful opportunities.
