PSLE CONTINOUS WRITING COMPOSITIONS

I had always treasured the ceramic pencil holder that my grandmother had given me before she moved overseas. It sat proudly on my study table, reminding me of her every day.

One afternoon, my best friend, Ryan, came to my house to work on a project. While we were taking a break, he accidentally knocked the pencil holder off the table. It crashed onto the floor and shattered into pieces.

My eyes widened in horror. Anger surged through me like a raging fire. "How could you be so careless?" I shouted. Ryan's face turned pale. He tried to apologise, but I refused to listen. Feeling hurt and upset, I ignored him for the rest of the day.

The next morning, I found an envelope in my desk. Inside was a handwritten note that read, "I'm sorry. I never meant to break something so precious to you. Please forgive me." Tucked behind the note was a small photo of Ryan and me from our first day of friendship.

As I stared at the photograph, memories of our happy times flooded my mind. I realised that Ryan had not broken the pencil holder on purpose. Everyone makes mistakes.

During recess, I approached him. Tears filled his eyes as he whispered, "I'm really sorry."

I smiled and replied, "I forgive you."

Relief washed over his face. We shook hands and soon burst into laughter.

That incident taught me an important lesson: forgiveness does not change the past, but it can heal wounded hearts and strengthen friendships.

✅ Use dialogue:

"I'm really sorry," Ryan whispered.

✅ Show, don't tell:

Instead of "I was sad," write "Tears welled up in my eyes."

✅ End with a meaningful lesson:

"Forgiveness is a gift we give not only to others but also to ourselves."

This structure, with vivid emotions, dialogue, and a clear moral, is what examiners look for in a PSLE Grade A1 composition.
