How A Foul-Smelling Cockroach Spoilt Helen’s Evening

One early evening, a young lady, Helen, was putting heavy make-up in her room. She was going to attend a relative’s wedding dinner shortly. It was to be held in a posh restaurant in town. Moments later, she was admiring herself at the dressing table. She wore a pair of expensive diamond-studded earrings. They were priceless as it was a family heirloom. Next, she put on an evening gown which was embroidered with red and blue flowers. She then wore a pair of red high-heel shoes and carried a matching leather handbag.

As she was checking if her hairpin was in place on her hairdo, suddenly she spotted an object flying towards her. She did not take much notice of it. It landed on her hairdo. It turned out to be a cockroach,foul-smelling and ugly-looking. She screamed and began to shake off the foul-smelling insect. It flew off, leaving her staggering and in a state of shook. She then scrambled to the door to seek refuge. Before she could reach the exit, the insect landed on her dress. She flew into a rage and swept it off her gown. She succeeded. However, the insect still came back to her. This time it landed on her arm. She waved her hand about alarmingly and it flew out of the window.

At this juncture, she was almost in tears and sat on her bed, looking very dejected. The foul-smelling cockroach had spoilt her evening. She could not attend the wedding dinner as her body and gown stank!
