How A Trishaw Man Met An Accident

One fine afternoon, a tourist, Amy, was in town. It was her first visit to the cosmopolitan city of Singapore. As she strolled leisurely along the clean pavement, she was greeted by diligent shopkeepers exhorting her to view a wide range of merchandise in their shops. At this juncture, something attracted her attention. She was fascinated by the sight of a trishaw man. The vehicle was unique to her. She hailed it as she yearned to be taken on a sightseeing tour of the picturesque city. The trishaw man obliged readily.

The trishaw man pedalled vigorously for the first part, ringing his bell smartly at slow-crossing pedestrians and hardly pausing to look before turning a corner into another narrow road. Amy glanced at the pedestrians from all walks of life. All of a sudden, the trishaw man shouted “Hoy!” The wheels swerved suddenly and bumped over something uneven. Amy was jolted as the trishaw stopped abruptly and crashed into a hawker’s cart that got in its way. The impact sent the hawker, James reeling off the road in pain. His cart was overturned, spiling its contents onto the dusty road. Leafy vegetables, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbages and yams clogged the road and held up traffic. The trishaw man was serious injured as he was flung from his trishaw. He landed at the middle of the road and suffered facial and bodily injuries. His trishaw was a total wreck. Amy was visibly shaken and sat nervously on the kerb. Many passersby and bystanders were miling about the scene of the accident.

The accident marred the tourist’s sightseeing tour of the city.
