How Four Monkeys Frightened A Woman Out Of Her Wits

One windy morning, a young lady, Joyce, was passing a wooded park. She carried a comb of ripe bananas and an elegant leather handbag. All of a sudden, four monkeys appeared and sprang at her, sending her shrieking with terror. Joyce scampered away and was followed closely by these fierce-looking monkeys. In her excitement, she tripped over a stone and fell heavily to the hard ground. Fearing that the monkeys might be close to her, she scrambled to her feet and fled for dear life. Blood was oozing from her cuts and bruises. However, the four monkeys finally caught up with her. Two monkeys snatched the bunch of bananas from her. The other two monkeys grabbed her handbag but Joyce put up a fierce struggle. Her handbag contained jewels, commemorative coins, a bunch of keys, her engagement ring, a thick wad of one-hundred-dollar banknote, a gold-plated pen, three credit cards, a diamond-studded pendant and an elegant watch. The ensuing struggle lasted for ten minutes before the monkeys finally relieved her of her handbag, much to her alarm and sadness. As the monkeys scampered away with the handbag, Joyce gave chase.

At this juncture, a park warden, James, was walking down a footpath when he heard a commotion. He caught sight of the monkeys running away with a lady’s handbag. The victim pursued them relentlessly. He sensed something amiss. He acted fast. He sprinted towards the scene. The monkeys scattered in different directions, leaving the handbag behind. The park warden returned the handbag to its rightful owner, Joyce. She thanked him for his assistance. The other two monkeys were helping themselves to the ripe bananas high up in the tree.

The park warden’s timely arrival helped to save the day.
