Imagine that you are a policeman. You were called to the spot of a robbery after the robbery. Write a report to reconstruct the crime and what you did at the scene of the crime.

A Robbery

I was on patrol, with Officer Ahad, at Tanjong Pagar when I received the message over radio that a robbery had just occurred at Mei Yun Goldsmiths’ near the Railway Station. My partner and I arrived at the spot in five minutes. We were told that the robbers had fled in the direction of Alexandra Road. I reported to Headquarters and was ordered to investigate the crime. Immediately, Officer Ahad and I started to interview eyewitnesses and gathered from them the following. This is what happened.

The robbery took place at exactly 10:00 am, just as the owner, Mr. Lee, was opening up. Only he and the security officer were in at the time. Three men rushed in. One of them hit the security officer with a club and knocked him out. Another man warned Mr. Lee to keep silent or they would kill him. The robbers were young men of about twenty over years old and they wore hoods over their faces. They carried knives. Mr. Lee froze. One of the robbers kept a knife at Mr. Lee’s throat while the other two ransacked the place. After they had filled their bags, they tied up Mr. Lee. They also warned him that he was not to call the police until five minutes after they had left. They said that they would kill him if he did not obey them.

After that they left, laughing all the time. Mr. Lee heard the roar of motor cycles and gathered that they might be gone. It was at this time that the security guard gained consciousness and it was he who gave the alarm. I took the statement of the security officer. There were no other witnesses. It was at this time that the ambulance arrived. Obviously it had been caught in a traffic jam. The ambulance men took away the security officer leaving Mr. Lee to clear up the mess.

Officer Ahad and I returned to headquarters to make our reports.
