Subject: Incident at the Basketball Court

Dear Mrs Pang,

I am writing to inform you about an incident that took place on 22 May 2020 at the basketball court after school.

At about 1.55 p.m., Mabel noticed a plastic bottle on the ground and reminded Vincent to take it with him and throw it into the recycling bin because she believed it belonged to him. However, Vincent refused and said that he would not take it. When Mabel pointed out that she had seen him drinking from it, he denied it.

I was nearby and witnessed the incident. I also saw Vincent drinking from the bottle earlier while he was playing basketball. Despite Mabel’s reminder, he left the bottle behind and walked away. As littering is against school rules, I felt it was important to report this matter to you.

How to Plan and Write This for PSLE English Grade A1

Step 1: Highlight the 5 Content Points

Before writing, underline the required points:

Question Requirement - Information from Picture

Date of incident - 22 May 2020

Where it took place - Basketball court

What Mabel reminded Vincent to do and why - Take the bottle and recycle it because it belonged to him

How Vincent responded - Refused and denied drinking from it

What Tina saw - Tina saw Vincent drinking from the bottle and littering

Tip: Every bullet point = at least one sentence in your email.

Step 2: Use a Simple 3-Paragraph Structure

Paragraph 1 – Purpose

State why you are writing.

Example:

Paragraph 2 – What Happened

Describe:

• Vincent's response

Example:

Instead of writing:

"I didn't!"

Write:
