Dear Mr Poh,

I am writing to inform you about an incident that took place in the school library during recess on 1 August 2021. At about 9.45 a.m., Sam, a Primary 6 pupil, was telling a story to several Primary 1 pupils.

At 10.07 a.m., Kim told Sam that she was impressed with him because he told an interesting story that kept the pupils attentive. In addition, even the pupils who were restless at first cooperated after Sam spoke to them in a firm yet patient manner. Sam explained that he was able to manage the Primary 1 pupils well because he had three younger siblings and was experienced in handling young children.

I decided to inform you about this incident because I believe Sam would make an excellent student guide for the upcoming Primary 1 Orientation Programme.

How to Plan and Write a PSLE Grade A1 Situational Writing

Step 1: Highlight the Purpose, Audience and Format (PAF)

Step 4: Use A1 Vocabulary

Instead of simple words, use stronger vocabulary:

Basic : A1 Vocabulary

calm : patient

handled : managed

tell : inform

nice : commendable

✅ Sam managed the younger pupils confidently and patiently.

Step 5: Use Linking Words

A1 students connect ideas smoothly.

Examples:

• Therefore,

Step 6: End with a Recommendation

Situational writing often requires a conclusion.

Example:

I believe Sam would make an excellent student guide for the Primary 1 Orientation Programme.

This directly answers why Dave informed Mr Poh.
