Irked By An Irregular Bus Service

One early Thursday morning, a commuter, David, was waiting for a bus. He was aged eleven. With his school bag slung across his shoulder, he was going to school. The bus stop was packed with other passengers. They came from all walks of life. They included soldiers, clerks, nurses, labourers and executives. The weather was cool and windy. He waited and waited for his bus with patience. He glanced at his watch. It was five past seven.

At this juncture, the sky grew overcast. A strong wind was blowing. A heavy downpour was imminent. He became worried. There would be a traffic jam on the road during heavy rain. He would be late for class and his teacher would reprimand him. He was relieved when he saw a bus approaching. He rushed for it but he was disappointed and looked grim. It was not his bus. He began pacing up and down the bus stop. He bit his finger with bitterness as he waited with impatience for the bus. He checked the time. It was ten past seven. Time was running out. However, there was still no sign of his bus. He sat on a seat in disgust

After half an hour, he was furious and started swinging his bag. His bus was not in sight. He was already late for school. He was in tears. As he was afraid to be reprimanded by his teacher, he decided to skip class. He intended to return home at once. He waited to take a homeward-bound bus. By a quarter past eight, he was still waiting for his bus.

The Bus Service was indeed irregular.
