My Favourite Places

I have a few favourite places. But the three places I like best are the bookstore, the beach and the cinema. I like most bookstores as I like reading very much. I could go to the library to read too but I prefer the bookstores because I can get to buy the books. I would save up some money to buy the books I want. I also like to browse through the stationery section in the bookstores. I collect notebooks, so I would always look out for some interesting ones to add to my collection. My favourite bookstores are Borders and Popular Bookstore.

Borders Bookstore is the biggest bookstore in Singapore,I like it very much because there is a special reading area at the Children’s Section. This area is comfortable because it is carpeted and we can sit anywhere on the carpet to browse through our favourite books. However, it gets very crowded during the weekends and there would not be enough space.Popular Bookstore has a huge stationery section and the goods are quite cheap too. So, I usually get my stationery from there.

I have always liked the beach because my family used to live in a kampung by the beach when I was quite young. We used to swim in the sea and take evening strolls on the beach. My favourite beach in Singapore is the East Coast Beach. I can do many things there besides swimming in the sea. I can ride a bicycle, roller-blade and play games at the video arcade. Also my favourite restaurants, McDonald’s and Pizza Hut are found there as well.

I enjoy going to the cinema because I enjoy watching movies. Sometimes, my parents would rent videos and we would watch movies at home. But that is not as fun as going to the cinema. At the cinema, we can watch movies on a huge screen and this is definitely more enjoyable, especially if we are watching action movies. I also love to munch on the popcorn available at the cinema. My favourite cinema is the Golden Village Cineplex at Yishun. It is the first cineplex in Singapore and there are ten cinemas inside.

Among my favourite places, I go to the bookstores most often because there is a Popular Bookstore near where I live.My parents also bring us to Borders at least once or twice a week, usually on a weekday afternoon, after school. My mother likes Borders a lot because she likes the coffee at Borders Café. I only get to go to the cinema once a month and we do not go if we are going to have tests or examinations. We go to the beach about four or five times a year. We only get to go to the beach during our school holidays. We usually try to rent a chalet and stay there for a few days.
