My Favourite Shop

I have a favourite shop. It does not have a name, but I call it after its owner, Susan. Susan’s shop has been my favourite haunt even since I was six.

Susan’s shop sells a variety of goods. One can buy provisions as well as ‘ice kacang’-a sweet, icy dessert filled with fleshy sea coconuts. She sells “ice-balls” too. These are balls of shredded ice topped with sweet syrup of various colours.

On hot days, ice-balls are a favourite amongst the children. Outside her shop, in a shaded verandah. Susan has placed tables and chairs for customers to sit and enjoy these desserts.

The shop also has many lucky draws for children where any single purchase, no matter how small, wins an instant gift. Susan’s shop sells comics too. The comics she stocks are mostly up-todate. She has some old ones too like ‘Richie Rich’ which happens to be my personal favourite. Susan often informs comic lovers of new titles in the market which her shop is holding.

As she sells a range of dry goods, housewives in the area find her shop convenient. For this group of people. Susan holds minidraws where the prizes are pretty cookware and tableware pieces.

I am glad Susan’s shop is in my neighbourhood.
