It was only last year when I had my first train ride. We were going to Kuala Lumpur to visit some relatives for the Chinese New Year. My parents had actually wanted to fly to Kuala Lumpur but all the flights were fully booked. My parents reluctantly decided that we should take a train. My brother and I were very excited as we had never been on a train before.
My father had booked second class tickets for us. The Second class cabins were very comfortable as they were fully air-conditioned and there were sleeping compartments. We had arrived just in time at the train station at Tanjong Pagar, We quickly rushed to board the train. We made it in the nick of time because no sooner had we boarded, the train started moving. My brother and I found it quite fun to be walking on a moving train, so we decided to explore the train. We decided to go all the way to the front where the train driver was. The train driver was very friendly and he showed us how the train was driven. We were really thrilled and fascinated.
Then, we walked through the first class compartments. It was very luxurious and the seats were extra huge in size.We also went all the way to the back of the train. Finally we decided to return to our own compartment. When we reached there, lunch was being served. The food was delicious. We ate heartily and then we decided to take a nap.
When we woke up from our nap, we found that we would only be reaching Kuala Lumpur in another hour’s time. We sat up to watch the scenery speed by. It was full of greenery and it was quite lovely. We also passed by many picturesque villages where the friendly villagers waved at us. It was the first time my brother and I saw oil palm plants, so we were quite fascinated by the scenery.
Soon, we pulled into the train station at Kuala Lumpur. It had taken us five hours to reach Kuala Lumpur by train. We were quite tired but we had thoroughly enjoyed the train ride. Our relatives were waiting for us at the station and we were happy to see them. I was a little disappointed that the journey was over so soon, but I was looking forward to the train ride back to Singapore.
