My Grandmother

I have a grandmother. She is not staying with us. She stays in India. She is almost one hundred years old.

Last year, I went to India to visit my grandmother. She lives in a small village in Goa. There, she is being taken care of by my aunts and uncles.

Observing her, I saw that she hardly needed any help. Early in the morning, she would be up before anybody else. She would sweep the house clean and then start breakfast. After which, she would walk briskly to the market square to sell vegetables.

She was also very kind to me while I was there. She would make a special dish of sweetmeat for me whenever she returned home early from the market. She showed much cheer and though,she hardly has a tooth left in her mouth, she would smile all the time. She loves children very much as I noticed when I was there that there were always crowds of children about her. While many others would have shooed the children away, I never saw my grandmother doing that.

Though I have only seen her once so far, I feel that my grandmother is a unique person with a strong character. I hope I grow up to have her excellent spirits.
