My Hobbies

All of us have hobbies, with some people having more than one. Hobbies are for pleasure and relaxation. Usually a hobby depends upon a person’s interest and aptitude.

Out of a host of pleasurable activities, I have taken to stamp collecting. I was drawn to this hobby when I was just seven years old. My uncle gave me an album of stamps on my birthday. I felt curious and amused to see the beautiful stamps neatly displayed in it. I took delight in opening my album of stamps and looking at the pretty collection, whenever I had spare time. That gave me endless joy.

As my interest developed, I began to request everyone I knew to give me stamps. Whenever any guest came to my house, I would ask if they could send me some novelty stamps.My parents were annoyed with me for making such requests and called me a pest.

When I grew older, I developed pen-friends to exchange stamps with. This enabled me to collect hundreds of stamps from the major countries of the world. I owed my excellent performance at the examination in history and geography to my interesting hobby of stamp collecting. The reason was that I began to read up on the countries shown on the stamps and gained knowledge about them.

I also enjoy cricket. It is a strenuous sport, training me to be mentally alert and quick-footed. Like other sports, foul play, dishonesty and meanness have no place in the game of cricket. I have made many friends from playing cricket.
