My Life as a Mynah

I am a bird a mynah. I have black feathers and my beak is yellow in colour. I cannot sing very well. I move around with a group of mynah friends. I live in trees near blocks of flats.Looking for food is no easy task for me.

My main feeding time happens when the garbage collector cleans out the rubbish chutes of the blocks of flats. Most of the time, the garbage collector tries to shoo me away.

The food I do get gives off a bad smell. Worms are hard to come by but cockroaches are aplenty. The trouble is, I dislike that insect. Once I tried pecking the ground for worms but the ground was too hard and I only got a few ants. I really prefer eating human food. Another time, I flew into a hawker centre. There was such an outcry, I was scared out of my wits.

Sometimes, some human being would place some bread and rice at the foot of the tree I live in. However the crows, our greatest enemy always got to this food first.

Life as a bird is about surviving day to day. I do not expect much nor do I do much. I like my life as it is.
