My School Canteen

I love to eat. So it is no surprise that my favourite place in school is the canteen. The canteen is situated below the school’s hall. It is in a large and airy space. Wooden tables and benches are arranged neatly in front of the stalls. There are a few wash basins at the side.

The school’s canteen sells many different types of food.Malay, Chinese, Western and Indian food are sold at the canteen.While the Malay and Chinese stalls sell mainly noodles and rice,the Western and Indian stalls sell fried foodstuff, like fried chicken wings, french fries and fried noodles. There is also a stall selling drinks and fruits.

I like food of all sorts. I like fried food best. Every day, during recess, I would buy myself a plate of fried mee and a glass of Sprite.

Recently, however, our principal has stopped the canteen operators from selling unhealthy food. This means food fried in too much oil. Students are advised to eat more fruits and leafy vegetables. They are to stay away from fried food. Soft drinks are also discouraged.

Now, I have switched to eating chicken rice and drinking plain water. I eat a lot of fruits too. I feel better and I think I am beginning to look better too.
