Narrate your experiences of meeting a celebrity.

If I had known that he would be so stuck up, I would not have bothered so much about him. He was a handsome chap and a popular television star and my friends and I were ardent fans of his. So when I saw him at the Satay Club, I was thrilled. I determined that I would speak to him that day.

He was sitting with a group of friends and he was wearing a pair of dark glasses. I hesitated for a long while and sat there looking at him. I did not want to bother him when he was eating and also I was a little shy. I did not enjoy my meal at all and secretly wished I was not alone. I think it would have been easier to approach a celebrity if you were a group of fans.

Finally, I seized my courage and walked up to the table. I stood and looked at him to await his acknowledgement of my presence. I was surprised that he ignored me completely. I stepped forward and one of his friends asked me aggressively what I wanted. It was then that I noticed that the lot of them had been drinking and were a little tipsy. The TV star himself was red as a cherry. I stretched my hand forward to shake hands, and at the same time told him that I was a fan. He ignored me and one of his friends told me to ‘get lost’. The star kept ignoring me and looked elsewhere.

I was completely put off by such behaviour and walked away sadly. The celebrity lost a few fans that hight. He lost me instantly and when I told my friends about it, he lost them too. After that whenever I saw him on TV, I realised that he was just a showman—not for real, just reel.
