Our Father's Bicycle

Our father’s bicycle was an old-fashioned one. My brothers and I never rode on it alone. Our father would give us a ride on it.

It was dark green in colour, had shiny spokes, a large head lamp and a bell. For many years, our father, a police officer, rode on it to and from work. Our father used to work at the Police Academy.

As the years went by, our father soon reached retirement. The giant bicycle rested idly in the garage at the back of the house.

One day, I decided to ride on it. I pushed it up a steep slope.Then, I mounted it, Without thinking any further, I raced down the slope at a tremendous speed. Halfway down, however the bicycle started to wobble clumsily. I tried the brakes. However, it was too late. The bicycle was out of control. Before I knew it. I was lying on the road, the bicycle on top of me. I had had a very bad accident.

The next day, as I sat watching the nurse bandage my bruised arm, I knew that I was never to touch the giant again.
