"Where is my watch?" I muttered as I searched my bag frantically. It was my grandfather's treasured watch, and I had worn it to school that day. Now, it had disappeared.

My heart pounded as I retraced my steps. During recess, I had been chatting with my friends in the canteen. Suddenly, I remembered taking off my watch while washing my hands. It must have slipped off without me noticing!

Just then, my friend Sarah approached me. Seeing the worried look on my face, she asked what had happened. After I explained, she immediately offered to help. Together, we searched the canteen, classrooms and even the school field, but there was no sign of the watch.

Feeling defeated, I buried my face in my hands. "My grandfather will be so disappointed," I said sadly.

Sarah thought for a moment before suggesting that we check the lost-and-found corner. It was our last hope. We hurried there and asked the teacher-in-charge. To my relief, she opened a drawer and pulled out a familiar silver watch.

My eyes widened with joy. "That's mine!" I exclaimed.

The teacher explained that a cleaner had found it on a canteen table and handed it in. I thanked her repeatedly before fastening the watch securely on my wrist.

As I walked home, I realised the importance of being responsible for my belongings. More importantly, I learned that obstacles are easier to overcome with the help of a good friend.
