Protecting our Environment

Protecting our environment and keeping it clean and green is everyone’s responsibility. So, we must make it a point to care for it by doing the right thing. Let’s practise the 3R’s---Recycle, Reduce and Reuse.

· Wastepaper, magazines, old newspaper and cans should not be thrown into the litter bins. Put paper and cans into recycling bins at schools, petrol kiosks or some public places.Wastepaper, magazines and old newspaper can also be sold to the wastepaper dealers.

· Keep used computer print-out paper. Turn them into memo pads or telephone message pads. Children can even use them as drawing papers.

· Reuse envelopes for sending mails/memos to your friends.

· Use recyclable paper for stationary needs. Switch to recycled product whenever we can. This can help to reduce the number of trees cut down to make paper.

· Reuse plastic bags to keep your refuse before throwing them into the litter bins or rubbish chutes.

· Use rags of cloth to wipe kitchen tables, instead of paper towels or napkins. Cloth can be washed and reused many times.

· Glass bottles and plastic jars can be washed and reused as containers for storage purpose. These containers can be decorated for use as vases or decorative items.

· Pass clothes which you don’t wear or do not fit anymore to those who can wear them

· Give away toys, books, games and household goods which you do not need but are still useful to someone else.

· Take your time to think carefully whatever you buy. It may be a waste if the thing you buy do not really suit your need.
