PSLE CONTINOUS WRITING COMPOSITIONS

As the class monitor, I always looked forward to our weekly class meetings. One day, our teacher told us that many families in a nearby shelter were struggling to afford daily necessities. Her words stayed in my mind long after the lesson ended.

Suddenly, an idea struck me. Why not organise a donation drive to help them? The next day, I raised my hand during class and shared my idea. To my delight, my classmates supported it enthusiastically. Our teacher smiled and encouraged us to turn the idea into action.

We formed committees and got to work immediately. Some students designed colourful invitation cards and posters while others prepared collection boxes. We invited students, parents and teachers to donate canned food, rice, biscuits and toiletries. At first, I worried that few people would participate. However, as the days passed, the donation boxes filled up quickly.

On the final day of the drive, we sorted and packed the donated items into large cartons. The following weekend, a group of volunteers delivered them to the shelter. The grateful smiles on the faces of the families warmed my heart. Some children even thanked us personally.

As we left, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction. What had begun as a simple idea had grown into a meaningful project that helped many people. That experience taught me that ideas alone cannot change the world. It is only when we take action that we can truly make a difference.
