Saved in Time

It was very early in the morning. My brother, Joseph and decided to go fishing by a riverside. After about half an hour, we had already filled our buckets with fishes.

All of a sudden, a scream pierced through the peaceful air. “Help! Help!” I then saw a boy waving his hands in the water. Without further thought, I jumped into the river. I swam as fast as I could but the current drifted the boy further and further away.

“Oh, no! I can’t let a life be lost just like that,” I murmured In a few minutes, I managed to catch hold of the boy by his arms and brought him back to the shore.

The boy revived very fast after Joseph had performed a ‘mouth-to-mouth resuscitation’ on him. He thanked us gratefully and said, “Thanks a lot! Had it been a minute later, I would be gone from this world already!”

The boy introduced himself as Charlie. He told us that he had been fishing for almost an hour and accidentally fell into the river. The current had pushed him to the middle of the river. No one heard him at first.

“Wow! You have caught so many fishes! Need any help?” asked Charlie excitedly. Joseph, Charlie and I soon played together merrily. I was very glad to have Charlie as our friend.

Time passed very quickly. The sun was high up in the sky. Our buckets were filled with many fishes and prawns. Charlie was very tough and strong. He volunteered to help us carry two heavy buckets back to our house.
