Sentosa Island

My decision to visit Sentosa as a class excursion was put to a vote. My classmates and I were thrilled and excited for we had been talking about the place for the past few days? Thus, all of us unanimously voted for Sentosa as our choice.

Our teacher, Mrs. Tan explained that the island reflected four types of worlds – the history, the fun, sun and nature worlds. Having successfully aroused our curiousity, we proceeded to explore these “Worlds”. At the History World, we visited the Surrender Chambers,the life-size wax figures, together with the audio presentation which explained the humiliation of defeat and the welcoming joy of victory experienced during World War II. We also saw the wax figures of the pioneers of Singapore who helped to build this small country over 100 years ago. The Maritime Museum contained ancient trading ships and junks and seizing the golden opportunity, we were asked by Mrs. Tan to identify the objects before us. At Fort Siloso, we walked through the tunnels, saw the guns displayed and gained understanding as to how the defence of Singapore was like in the past.

In the Fun World, my friends and I played games in the Asian Village, touched the starfish at the Underwater World and were much impressed by the different kinds of fish and other sea creatures that swam in this huge oceanarium. We also learned that the Underwater World Organises sleepovers for students. We became really excited at the prospect of sleeping with all those marine life swimming around us and successfully persuaded Mrs Tan to organise such a trip for us.

The Nature World in the island had the nature romble and walk where we met a few proud peacocks with attractive feathers and two monkeys which followed us for a short distance. The Nature World also has an Insect Museum where we saw a numerous variety of butterflies, many of which were new to me. The corals ond other marine exhibits that greeted us at the Coralarium were fascinating! There were exclamations of surprise omong ourselves as we moved from place to place.The beaches with canoes and aquabikes for rental were the aquabikes in pairs. We also tried our hand at beach in Singapore. Needless to say, we were rather lousy as great fun and only rested for a short while.

We spent the bulk of our time in the Sun World,so inviting. While a few decided to cycle, others rented vleyball, which is becoming more and more popular we had never played volleyball before. Overall, we had

When it was time to go back in the evening, we were exhausted but thoroughly satisfied. The trip was an enjoyable and definitely an educational one for us.
